How to Make Your Own CBD Tea

Spread the love

If you are a regular tea drinker, you have already become accustomed to the satisfying feelings accompanied by your favorite morning, afternoon, or evening cups of tea.

Tea has been recognized for centuries as a beneficial beverage for your health. Tea can benefit human health in a number of ways, thanks to its antioxidants. Research suggests that tea can improve exercise endurance, and can reduce the risk of a heart attack. By adding CBD to your tea, you can multiply both CBD and tea’s benefits.

CBD, more formally regarded as cannabidiol, is a  therapeutic cannabinoid found in cannabis. It has been gaining praise lately for its non-psychoactive effects (meaning it will not get you “high,” like THC does) and abundant health benefits. CBD is the mood-improving supplement tea drinkers are starting to love.

Here, we give you the rundown on what CBD tea is, where you can get it, and how you can make your very own CBD tea.

What is CBD Tea?

In contrast to a CBD latte, CBD tea is a little more complex. You cannot just put a couple teaspoons full of CBD oil into your tea and call it a day. Doing this wouldn’t produce as strong healing benefits that you are hoping to get, and it probably wouldn’t taste great.

Also, not all CBD-infused teas are the same. The truth is, CBD oil-based teas cannot extract in hot water because water and oil do not mix. In order to maximize the compound’s bioavailability (the rate at which the CBD is absorbed in the body), the CBD has to be thoughtfully and carefully crafted in labs where the consumer’s best interests are kept in mind.

With water soluble, bioavailable CBD, you can be assured that the CBD will extract into the hot tea. This allows your body to feel the full effects and benefits that CBD can provide.

An excellent brand that does this very well is Buddha Tea. Buddha Tea has taken the mystery out of crafting the most bioavailable cup of CBD tea on the market. This brand has discovered a process that takes the CBD oil and transforms it into a powder that is slipped into their organic teas. All you need to do is heat the water to your desired temperature proper, give it some time, then enjoy your CBD tea.

Buddha Tea’s Chamomile Blend CBD Tea, for example, has earned global popularity for its calming effects. Using all organic ingredients, it is paired with healing lemon balm and a hint of soothing lavender, plus an added 5mg of water soluble CBD in each tea bag. This CBD tea is relaxing, calming, and is great for nighttime use since it helps with sleep, mood stability, anxiety, and inflammation.

Make Your Own CBD Tea

If you aspire to create your own CBD tea, water soluble CBD is your best bet. Water soluble CBD is the most ideal option because it is specifically created to be included in food and beverages. The water soluble CBD we used below uses full-spectrum CBD (for more information, read the following:  Entourage Effect) whereas a lot of other water solubles use CBD isolate.

A water soluble product we especially love is Hemplucid’s Water Soluble CBD Oil. This solution is formulated using an ultra-purified, de-waxed whole-plant CBD concentrate. The CBD oil is bonded to organic vegetable glycerin creating a sweet, sugar free and rapidly bioavailable CBD product that is perfect for tea. It’s Daintri’s favorite because it uses full-spectrum CBD.

But, if you’re more the DIY type, the best way to enjoy a great cup of CBD tea is to add dry or fresh cannabis or hemp material to hot water. However, the heat produced by boiling water does not extract the cannabinoids – it extracts the plant’s terpenes – which are still very good for you, but it is not stand-alone CBD.

Terpenes, like CBD, are believed to have a therapeutic effect on pain, inflammation, anxiety, and more. They are also responsible for the varying scents of the plants. and they are responsible for the varying scents of the plant. But if you want to get the cannabinoids out of the plant material, you will have to follow a more complex process.

To activate the cannabinoids, your fresh plant materials need to go through decarboxylation (the heating of raw cannabis), which transforms the cannabinoids into CBD. First, you heat the material (in your oven, ideally) for 20 minutes at 100 degrees Celsius, then, you raise the temperature to 115 degrees Celsius and leave it in the oven for at least an hour.

Finally, you take your now-baked plant materials out and seep them into hot tea.

Here are ingredients and directions for making a delicious CBD tea:

Ingredients

  • 6 grams freshly ground hemp stems
  • 2 cups full-fat milk like coconut, hemp or whole dairy
  • ¼ cup (melted) coconut oil or ¼ stick of softened butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup of water
  • Loose leaf chai tea (or any other flavor) and tea infuser ball
  • Honey and cinnamon

Directions

  • Blend hemp stems, milk, oil and vanilla extract until combined
  • Allow the mixture to sit at room temperature for an hour
  • Add mixture to saucepan, along with the water and infuser full of tea leaves
  • Cover and simmer over medium-low heat for 20 minutes (do not let it come to a boil)
  • Pour into a mug and add cinnamon and honey

Important to know: Because cannabinoids (like CBD) need fat to be absorbed in the small intestine, be sure to sip your tea with, or directly after a meal in order to absorb the nutrients and feel all of the relaxing feels.

Takeaways

  • The goal of CBD is to optimize health by maintaining homeostasis within the body.
  • Make sure to use water soluble CBD in your tea so that the CBD can dissolve.
  • If you are just starting to use CBD, you may need to experiment to find the right dosage. It is recommended that you start small and slowly work your way up.
  • Because making your own CBD tea is somewhat challenging, we recommend purchasing a water soluble CBD tea like Matcha Green CBD Tea by Buddha Teas.

While it is recommended that you use water soluble CBD,  Daintri  offers a wide variety of CBD products that can be easily mixed into your favorite tea, including CBD Honey Sticks, Stress Blend CBD Tincture, CBD Coconut Oil Sticks, CBD Isolate Powder, and more.
