ADHD & CBD [Ultimate Guide 2020]

CBD is continuing to receive praise from individuals everywhere, due to its therapeutic effects and health benefits for conditions such as anxiety, inflammation, addiction and digestive problems. In addition to providing relief for these symptoms, it has also been found that CBD can have energizing effects that aid with focus. Evidence suggests that CBD could be used to help those struggling with ADHD.

CBD has proven to make it easier for people to concentrate and focus, deeming it an excellent supplement for those trying to manage their ADHD naturally. Researchers and other medical professionals are currently in the midst of additional research into CBD as it pertains to treating ADHD symptoms. Traditional ADHD medications usually consist of stimulants, and can cause side effects such as stomach aches, headaches, irritability, decreased appetite, and insomnia.

CBD is one of the most important, naturally-occurring compounds in the cannabis plant. It is a non-psychoactive component of hemp and marijuana strains, known for its natural ability to heal people’s physical and mental ailments. Because CBD is non-psychoactive, it doesn’t produce the “high” that people feel when they consume marijuana.

This post discusses how CBD can help those with ADHD live a much better quality of life. First, we will cover what ADHD is and how it negatively impacts the lives of those who have it.

What is ADHD?

ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) is a neurodevelopmental disorder. Common symptoms of ADHD include hyperactivity, forgetfullness, fidgeting, irritability, and trouble focusing.

Because it is categorized as a neurodevelopmental disorder, it impairs the growth and development of the central nervous system. Medical institutions around the world recognize that ADHD is a verifiable brain disorder that affects millions of people.

ADHD impairs the memory, self-control, and ability to learn in those who have been diagnosed. Having ADHD makes it very challenging for children and adults to focus on the simplest of tasks. This can affect their performance and success in school, their career, and life in general.

CBD May Be the Key to Lessening ADHD Symptoms

Think of CBD working like a key in a lock. The locks represent the millions of receptors in your brain, and the CBD acts like the key. When the lock are closed, receptors are inactive. CBD is the key in opening these locks (receptors) so that they remain open. For those with ADHD, the active adenosine receptors are the source of the problem.

For those of us who do not have ADHD, our bodies control anxiety naturally. But, when the receptors aren’t working in tandem with our mental state, the brain can’t produce enough “keys” to keep our bodies and minds in a state of homeostasis. When that happens, you start feeling anxious, paranoid and depressed — all major components of ADHD. Luckily, many scientists are working to study the relationship between cannabinoids and ADHD, with several studies already concluding that cannabinoids can help alleviate some behavioral symptoms.

When CBD is present in the body, it stimulates brain activity and has a twofold effect on your behavior: (1) CBD decreases many negative symptoms of ADHD (2) CBD increases your ability to concentrate and focus on one specific task.

How Can CBD Help with ADHD?

CBD is one of the best possible natural substances for relieving symptoms that come with ADHD and/or the anxiety accompanied with the condition.

Providing a mental boost in clarity, focus and concentration, CBD has the ability to improve the lives of those with ADHD, acting as an instantaneous “leveling out” feeling.

Many people who suffer from ADHD often are “stuck in their own heads,” and unable to get out. Taking CBD could make you more aware of your surroundings and ensure you don’t experience the mental resistance when trying to accomplish tasks.

CBD works in conjunction with the body’s Endocannabinoid System (ECS), a central system in the body which promotes and maintains homeostasis (balance). As CBD enters the bloodstream, it sends messages to the brain (by way of the central nervous system, in this case) to calm your nerves and cut through brain fog that is also present in those with ADHD.

After taking CBD (which can be administered in a variety of ways, including oil or tincture), there is a strong possibility you will feel more connected to other people, and mentally prepared to accomplish meaningful tasks that you otherwise would have trouble completing.

If your ADHD symptoms cause you to relentlessly worry, overthink and overanalyze things, supplementing with CBD daily could vastly improve the quality of your life and reduce the negative symptoms of ADHD.

How Much CBD Should I Take? [Ultimate Guide 2020]

CBD, or cannabidiol, is the second-most abundant cannabinoid found in the cannabis plant. It has been gaining praise for its therapeutic effects and non-psychoactive nature. CBD is proving itself to be a great natural remedy and alternative for those suffering from chronic pain, debilitating anxiety and many other health-related issues.

CBD comes in many forms including oils, tinctures, creams, capsules, edibles, and vapes. These products include dosage amounts that can be found on the labels, typically measured in Milligrams (MG).

Although you cannot overdose on CBD, it is very important to take the correct dosage to receive the best optimal health effects. Dosage amounts can vary in different products and brands and should always be considered when choosing the right CBD product.

CBD Dosing 101

Unlike the majority of pharmaceuticals, CBD does not have adverse effects on your body’s organs. The cannabinoid works in alliance with your body and its Endocannabinoid system (ECS).

25-40 mgs per day is an ideal starting point for the average adult seeking the therapeutic benefits from CBD. This intake of CBD can improve overall health, relieve stress, mild pain, and lessen symptoms of   anxiety. Note that the amount may vary according to the consumers height weight, and age.

A rule of thumb is to start small, and gradually build up doses as you get more comfortable with the effects of CBD. Consider consulting your doctor or physician if you have any questions or concerns.

It is important to note the difference between low and high doses of CBD. At higher doses, CBD successfully treats serious conditions like schizophrenia, dementia, diabetes, and cancer. At lower doses, CBD is effective in treating common everyday issues such as stress, anxiety, mild pain and inflammation.

According to neuroscientist Nick Jikomes, there are different conditions for which dosages are effective (or ineffective). This is likely because CBD is binding to several different receptors throughout the body. At a lower dose, the compound will hit the receptors it has the highest affinity for. And at higher doses, those receptors can become saturated, causing what’s left of the CBD taken to interact with other receptor systems.

In addition to these benefits, the cannabinoid CBD contains neuro-protective antioxidants known to improve common skin conditions such as acne. This means that CBD can also serve as a  viable face wash. The effects of CBD on the skin can be adequately compared to those seen from Vitamins C and E.

CBD dosage will differ for each individuals, and it is recommended that consumers research what willl work best for them. Although medical professionals can recommend a certain dose, the effects of CBD can differ based on a persons age, height, weight, among other factors.

General CBD Dosing Guide

Here is a generalized overview of CBD doses based on the form of administration. Remember that there are various ways to take CBD, and dose amount should be considered. Here are some dosing recommendations based on customer experience:

Health & Wellness

  • CBD Capsule: Take 1-2 capsules daily to support your metabolism, digestion, mood, anxiety and cognitive support. 30 mg per capsule
  • CBD Oil: Great for improving your cardiovascular system and blood circulation, measure 1 TSP onto a spoon and take 1-2 times daily

Pain Relief

  • CBD Tincture: Among other things, tinctures can provide women with support for symptoms of endometriosis, helps relieve breast pain and hot flashes, and nourishes your skin and nails. Take 1-2 drops per 10 pounds body weight daily
  • CBD Vape Pen: Good for relaxation, nausea, anxiety, and more. Take occasionally as needed.
  • CBD Salve: Good for arthritis, joint pain, chronic pain, and inflammation. Apply directly to affected area as needed.

  • CBD Concentrate:  This is exceptionally beneficial for those suffering from epilepsy and seizures. Press suggested serving size onto the tip of your finger and place under tongue

  • Anti-aging CBD moisturizer: Apply a small amount to clean, dry skin every morning and evening.
  • CBD Facial Cleanser: This is good for dry, irritated, oily or acne-prone skin. Apply a small amount to fingers and massage onto face in a circular motion for 30 seconds each morning and night

New to CBD? Use this as a general guideline:

Adjust intake as needed. It is impossible for the human body to overdose on CBD. In some cases, consumers take 1000+ mg daily to treat severe issues.

  • Start small and build based on your body and symptoms’ reaction.
  • Dosage information is often provided on packaging to help and guide individuals using CBD.
  • At higher doses, CBD has proven successful in more serious conditions like schizophrenia and epilepsy.
  • At lower doses, CBD has proven successful in more common conditions like anxiety, stress, and joint pain.
  • People interested in CBD products may want to consider experimenting with different routes of administration to see what works best for them.

CBD Found to Reduce Seizures in Dogs [Ultimate Guide 2020]

The woman walks two dogs on a sunset

CBD, more formerly regarded to as cannabidiol, is the non-psychoactive component found in the cannabis plant. CBD is extracted from the hemp strain of the plant, which is not to be confused with marijuana. The cannabinoid is also non-psychoactive, so it doesn’t produce the “high” that is associated with THC, the compound found in marijuana.

People everywhere are spreading the good word on CBD’s wide-range of health benefits. CBD has been found to be effective in relieving pain, anxiety, inflammation, symptoms of depression, unstable moods, and much more.

Perhaps you have heard about the super popular compound in the news, or have even tried it out for yourself. More and more people are starting to recognize the amazing benefits that this versatile compound is providing. Because it works with the Endocannabinoid System, or ECS, CBD is able to provide similar benefits for mammals. CBD for pet use is completely safe, and can be found in dog treats and other pet products.

Research shows that CBD can help with behavioral problems, seizures, appetite, pain, and other common issues found in pets.

Here is a recap of a recent study showcasing how CBD is helping dogs with epilepsy.

CBD Proven To Help Dogs With Epilepsy

Recent studies from Colorado State University’s James L. Voss Veterinary Teaching hospital have found that CBD is highly beneficial for dogs with epilepsy. When CBD was administered to the dogs, researchers witnessed that the CBD drastically reduced the frequency of seizures in dogs.

Dr. Stephanie McGrath, at the Voss Veterinary Teaching hospital, Colorado State University; conducted a trial focusing on pharmacokinetic studies (the study of how an organism affects a drug) in dogs. The doctors tested the absorption of CBD in the dogs’ bloodstream to see how the substance affected the dogs.

The results of Dr. McGrath’s study were very promising. The research concluded that there was an 89% reduction in the frequency of seizures in dogs during the trial.

The team has also completed two additional clinical trials concerning epilepsy and osteoarthritis, in addition to a much larger epilepsy study on the effects of CBD, funded by the American Kennel Club Canine Health Foundation.

Dr. McGrath reported that “studying the effect of CBD on other canine diseases are necessary to understand what the full potential of the drug is,” and followed by stating “There is so much more to learn about CBD, and we are at the very beginning.”

Amen to that, Dr. McGrath. The more we know, the greater ability we have to help the millions of people (and pets) with their physical and mental ailments.

CBD May Counteract Symptoms of Psychosis [Ultimate Guide 2020]

Pretty girl with mental problem and split personality

CBD has been gaining praise lately for it’s long list of medical and therapeutic benefits. The compound found in the cannabis plant, cannabidiol, has proven its ability to help relieve pain, anxiety, inflammation, lack of focus, and more. Now, it is rumored that the powerful compound may have the potential to counteract systems of psychosis.

Cannabidiol has been around for centuries, but has only recently been recognized for its natural power for health and therapeutic purposes.   It is continuing to gain attention as a potential (and powerful) treatment for serious conditions like cancer, epilepsy, Alzheimer’s disease and Crohn’s disease, and more.

Now, a new brain imaging study suggests that a single dose of CBD can reduce the symptoms of psychosis (which includes delusions, hallucinations, or speaking incoherently) by “resetting” the activity in three main areas of the brain. This study has offered the very first evidence-based explanation on how CBD may counteract psychosis. Overall, these results could provide information that could be used to generate new and more effective treatments for people with mental health issues.

What is Psychosis?

Psychosis is a mental disorder characterized by a disconnection from reality. It typically occurs as a result of a psychiatric illness, such as schizophrenia, or can be caused from unknown health conditions, medications, drug use, and even lack of sleep, all of which can spark psychotic episodes.

Psychosis is not a single condition or disorder, per say, but instead is a symptom of other disorders combined, characterized by detachment from reality. Seeing, hearing or believing things that aren’t real are common symptoms. A person with psychosis is not usually aware of his or her behavior, and therefore may refuse treatment of any kind because they don’t believe anything is wrong.

The Study

A small study of 33 participants – all whom were currently experiencing psychotic symptoms – were joined with another small group of healthy participants, serving as the control group. Half of the psychosis group was given one 600mg oral dose of CBD, while the other half received an identical placebo capsule.

The control group didn’t receive any CBD. They didn’t receive any drug at all, actually.

All participants completed a memory task which was designed to engage three brain areas that have been previously linked to the onset of psychosis (the striatum, medial temporal cortex and midbrain).

Shortly after consuming CBD (and the placebo for those in the placebo group, along with the group that didn’t receive anything at all), everyone’s brains were examined with an fMRI (functional magnetic resonance imaging) scanner, which measures brain activity by detecting changes associated with blood flow.

To give you a clearer understanding of what the fMRI scanner does: The technique relies on the fact that cerebral blood flow and neuronal activation are coupled. So, when an area of the brain is in use, blood flow to that region also increases, which is shown through the scanner.

The scans from the study showed abnormal activity in the brains of the participants who were experiencing psychosis symptoms, compared with the healthy control group. This was obviously expected.

But, the brains of those who had taken a dose of CBD showed less severe abnormalities than the brains of those who had taken a placebo, suggesting CBD was “resetting” abnormal activity in those three key brain areas mentioned before, hinting that CBD could be an effective treatment for people with psychosis.

The Conclusion of the Study

The study’s lead author, Dr. Sagnik Bhattacharyya from the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience at King’s College in London, commented on the results of the brain imaging study stating that “The results have started unraveling the brain mechanisms of a new drug (CBD) that works in a completely different way in comparison to traditional anti-psychotics.”

The next progression of the brain imaging study, which is already underway, is a large-scale human trial set to replicate the results of the initial study, to determine if CBD is a viable long-term treatment. If this is successful, then according to Dr. Sagnik, CBD would then be “immediately differentiated” from other medications on the market, including some that have been around since the 1950s, all of which have produced inconsistent results for patients with psychosis.

In fact, some of the most common (traditional) anti-psychotic medications have “notoriously severe side effects,” like muscle tremors and overpowering sedation.

Predictions of CBD as an Antipsychotic Medication

Dr. Bhattacharyya reported there is an urgent need for a safe treatment for young people at risk of psychosis, stating, “One of the main advantages of CBD is that it is safe and seems to be very well tolerated, making it in some ways an ideal treatment.”

He is optimistic about the treatment of CBD for people with psychosis, both from the results of the study, and because of the various benefits CBD has provided for people. He stated that, “If CBD turns out to be an effective anti-psychotic, these findings (from the brain imaging study) will highlight another striking paradox of a plant that science is only now really beginning to understand.”

  • Research and clinical trials are beginning to show CBD as an effective treatment for reducing psychosis.
  • Traditional anti-psychotic medication can have bad side effects, such as muscle tremors and overpowering sedation.
  • CBD is non-psychoactive and does not produce the “high” that is associated with the consumption of marijuana.
  • CBD has been shown to “reset” abnormal brain activity in three key brain areas, hinting that CBD could be an effective treatment for people with psychosis.

What is CBD? [Ultimate Guide 2020]

What is CBD?

CBD, short for cannabidiol, is the main therapeutic chemical compound found in the cannabis plant. Research shows that CBD can be beneficial to those suffering from a multitude of health issues, including cancer, seizures, mental health, insomnia, inflammation, and nausea. Because of this, CBD has gained favor as a powerful natural supplement for general health and wellness as well as a specific remedy for a variety of ailments.

What are the Health Benefits of CBD?

CBD is non-psychoactive, meaning it does not get you “high.” Because of this, countless people have found CBD to be beneficial for both temporary and long-term relief from numerous health and wellness related issues. Although CBD use has only become a popular health remedy in recent years, a significant amount of research indicates that it can benefit users with the following conditions and ailments:

Pain Relief

A 2018 review of studies conducted over a period of 43 years concluded that CBD is an effective natural remedy for pain and does not cause the negative side effects associated with pharmaceuticals and pain management drugs. It is believed that CBD interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS), which has receptors in the central nervous and immune systems. CBD may activate and generate responses in the receptors that deliver the pain relief noted in the 2018 review.

Pain and inflammation often go hand-in-hand, and studies indicate that CBD’s effect on the endocannabinoid system’s receptors can reduce inflammation. One study on rats found that CBD administered orally significantly reduced inflammation in the test subjects.

Research on CBD and sleep still needs to be further explored, but a study suggests it could be a more effective solution than most common sleep aids. CBD shows promise with easing anxiety and pain, which makes sleep easier, and may even interact with brain receptors that help regulate the body’s sleep cycles.

With pain relief research showing significant promise, CBD could prove to be a viable substitute to opioids, which could stop addiction before it starts. Additionally, early research shows that CBD has the potential to help reduce dependence on opioids, alcohol, nicotine, and other addictive substances as well.

Mental Health

Research indicates that CBD has a positive interaction with serotonin receptors, which could make it an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions. Additionally, since CBD has no known negative side effects, it is actively being researched as a potential substitute for harmful pharmaceuticals.

Neurodegenerative Diseases

Neurodegenerative diseases often cause iron accumulation, which eventually lead to cell death. A recent study indicates that CBD can restore the metabolic functions of these cells, potentially slowing the progress of diseases like Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, and Multiple Sclerosis.

Strong evidence suggests that CBD can help prevent cancer cell growth and even cause cancer cell death. CBD also has the potential to increase the potency of other cancer drugs, while also easing the side effects that come with chemotherapy and radiation.

Epilepsy, Seizures, and Tremor/Spasmodic Disorders

In cases of epilepsy, seizures, and other tremor disorders, CBD has been found to significantly reduce the frequency of convulsive seizures. Many people cite CBD’s effectiveness as a remedy that dramatically reduces or even eliminates seizures for themselves, their children, or their pets.

General Mood

The body’s endocannabinoid system regulates several functions, including general mood. CBD’s impact on the ECS helps reduce stress and improve overall mood.

CBD’s anti-inflammatory properties can be a great help to those with diabetes, as inflammation and nerve pain are common symptoms. Additionally, CBD is said to reduce insulin resistance and moderate blood sugar levels for those with type 2 diabetes.

Rheumatoid Arthritis

Several studies indicate that CBD offers tangible benefits to those suffering from rheumatoid arthritis, reducing inflammation and reducing pain without negative side effects. CBD has also been found to be beneficial in topical gel form, reducing joint inflammation and pain.

CBD is believed to interact with serotonin receptors, helping to alleviate nausea and vomiting. For those who suffer from frequent or chronic nausea, CBD can also help ease the anxiety that comes with the condition.

CBD has shown promise as a treatment for schizophrenia, particularly by decreasing psychotic symptoms and cognitive impairments.

Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Inflammatory bowel disease mainly includes Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, which both commonly cause diarrhea, abdominal pain, fatigue, lack of appetite, and more. One study indicates that CBD can relieve the symptoms of Crohn’s disease, while additional research shows CBD can help reduce inflammation frequently caused by colitis.

Skin Health

Acne is believed to be caused by a variety of factors, but the overproduction of sebum is a major cause. One study found that CBD reduced inflammation and prevented sebaceous glands from producing excessive amounts of sebum, making it a potential acne treatment.

How Does CBD Work?

CBD produces effects on the human body by activating various receptors in the central nervous and immune systems, causing them to perform specific functions. Since the human body naturally produces cannabinoids, it has two receptor types for cannabinoids: CB1 and CB2. The majority of CB1 receptors are found in the brain and central nervous system and impact mood, appetite, pain, emotions, and other functions. CB2 receptors are typically found in the immune system and impact pain and inflammation.

More research needs to be done, but CBD does not appear to directly attach to CB1 or CB2 receptors. Rather, CBD appears to modulate several non-cannabinoid receptors and ion channels that affect CB1 and CB2 receptors, endogenous neurotransmitters and certain G-protein receptors directly.

Does CBD Get You High?

No, you cannot get high from CBD. Since CBD is often derived from marijuana and hemp, it is common for people to assume it intoxicates users. However, CBD by itself is non-intoxicating and has no psychoactive effects.

While it is true that CBD can improve a person’s general mood or reduce stress and anxiety, these benefits are very different from the high usually associated with marijuana.

Is CBD Legal?

CBD’s legality is a point of confusion for many Americans who associate it with marijuana instead of regarding it as an individual chemical component of cannabis. While CBD can be derived from marijuana, the majority of CBD products on the market come from industrial hemp, which is legal.

While hemp-derived CBD is legal on a federal level, states have their own laws and they sometimes do not fully align with federal regulations. Several factors can determine the legality of CBD in your state. This article examines CBD’s legality in more detail.

How Do I Take CBD?

CBD can be taken orally, ingested, inhaled, or applied topically to your body. There are pros and cons to each of the various forms of CBD and ways to take it. The appropriate method for taking CBD depends on the reasons for using it. Whenever you start a new medical therapy, including CBD, it is always advised to consult with your doctor first. Additionally, speaking with a reputable CBD retailer about your specific issues can help you determine the best form of CBD for you to take.

What Are the Different Forms of CBD?

  • Edibles: Edibles are foods and beverages that have been infused with CBD, making them easy to consume and share. The most popular edibles are chocolates, gummies, hard candies, and CBD infused water.
  • Vapes: Vapes allow users to inhale CBD through the use of a portable and hand-held heating device. CBD comes in a liquid form, typically with a desirable flavor, and the heating device turns it into an inhalable vapor. Vapes have become a popular form of CBD consumption due to its on-the-go convenience.
  • Oils: CBD oil is the most popular form of CBD. It is most often taken sublingually, but it can also be applied topically or ingested. A dropper is most often used to administer the desired dose.
  • Tinctures: Much like CBD oil, tinctures can be ingested orally. However, tinctures are made using an alcohol base to increase the absorption rate into the body. Additionally, tinctures are often flavored to improve taste or have additional ingredients like herbs added to it to provide additional health benefits.
  • Topicals: CBD topicals are creams, lotions, balms, or salves that are intended to relieve pain in joints and muscles. Topicals must be applied to the skin of the targeted area so the CBD can be absorbed into the body.
  • Pet Care: Pets can benefit from CBD in many of the same ways people do, which is why infused treats, capsules, and tinctures have become popular. Pet forms of CBD can either replace typical treats or can easily be added to food.
  • Drinks: CBD beverages include waters, teas, sodas, or even water-soluble powders that you can add to your drink of choice.
  • Isolates: CBD isolate is a crystalline powder that contains 99% pure CBD. Isolate is odorless, tasteless, and can be consumed by placing it under your tongue, smoking it, or adding it to a beverage or food.

How Much CBD Should I Take?

Since CBD works in alliance with the human body, there are no adverse effects to worry about. However, the general rule of thumb is to start with smaller doses of CBD and gradually build them up as you become used to the effects.

The ideal starting dosage for an adult is 25-40 mgs per day, though the recommended dose could change depending on the user’s height, weight, age and reason for use. Additionally, higher dosages are necessary for those who wish to treat more serious conditions, like cancer or diabetes.

To learn more about CBD dosing, read Daintri’s article on the subject.

Who Should Take CBD? Is CBD For Everyone?

Even though research on CBD shows how promising it is for a wide range of health issues and conditions, it isn’t necessarily for everyone. The FDA recommends that pregnant women or those who are breastfeeding should avoid using CBD. At this time, there is no comprehensive research studying the impact CBD has on pregnant mothers, developing fetuses, or babies still being breastfed.

CBD may also interact with other medications in the user’s bloodstream, specifically blood thinners. However, this is simply the nature of chemical compounds. Grapefruit juice, for instance, should be avoided when taking certain medications. Anyone who is interested in using CBD to manage an illness or condition should speak to their doctor to ensure it won’t conflict with any medications they are taking.

Where Can I Buy CBD?

Since CBD regulations vary state by state, the easiest way to purchase CBD is often through an online retailer. With so many different forms of CBD and CBD brands on the market, it is best to choose a trusted retailer that stocks a wide selection of high quality and safe products. Products can be purchased online, without judgment, and swiftly delivered to the customer’s desired location.

Daintri, for example, is a one-stop online shop for all CBD needs. Daintri curates the highest quality CBD products on the market and organizes their products in an easy and intuitive shopping experience. This ensures their customers conveniently find the right CBD product for their specific needs. In addition to offering fast shipping on over 300 products, Daintri maintains a robust education center for those new to CBD.

Visit Daintri now to browse their excellent selection of CBD products.

Does CBD Have Any Side Effects?

CBD side effects include dry mouth, fatigue, irritability, and reduced appetite. However, most users will have no issues when taking CBD.

Will CBD Show Up on a Drug Test?

CBD generally will not show up on a drug test, but it depends on the type of CBD product you are using. Some CBD products contain trace amounts of THC, which is marijuana’s main active ingredient. If enough THC is present in the CBD product, marijuana could show up as positive on a drug test.

While a CBD product could lead to a positive drug test, CBD is not the compound that is picked up by the test. CBD users who are concerned about possible drug tests should read product labels or perhaps contact the manufacturer or retailer to learn whether THC is present, and if so, how much.

How is CBD made?

CBD is most often made by extracting the chemical compound from cannabis plant matter. One of the most popular methods of extracting CBD is through the use of carbon dioxide (CO2). Extraction begins by pumping CO2 into a chamber containing cannabis. This chamber is pressurized to keep CO2 in a liquid state, allowing it to extract oil out of the plant. The mixture of CO2 and CBD is then transferred to another chamber, where CO2 is then returned to a gaseous state and CBD is left behind.

Oil infusion is another common method of producing consumable CBD. First, the cannabis is heated enough to activate its compounds. Next, a carrier oil, like olive oil and additional heat are added for almost two hours. The end result is an oil mixture of CBD and the carrier oil.

How Can I Find Quality CBD Products?

One of the best ways to find quality CBD products is to become educated on cannabidiol. Understanding CBD, the way it interacts with the human body, and the way it is used in products makes it much easier to find high-quality CBD products.

Additionally, finding a reputable online retailer can help make the search for high quality and safe CBD products easy and convenient. A retailer like Daintri provides a robust education center for information on CBD, as well as a wide selection of curated CBD products for all your CBD needs.

Why is there THC in some CBD Products?

Some CBD products contain THC because it is believed that THC can enhance the effect of CBD. This effect is called the “Entourage Effect” and some research indicates the effect to be true. Many states still, however, prohibit the sale or consumption of THC, so most CBD products on the market contain zero or less than 0.3% THC, the federally legally allowed limit.

Can You Travel With CBD?

Although it used to be illegal to fly with any form of CBD, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) recently changed its policy to allow hemp-derived CBD on flights. However, although the TSA’s new stance is clear, there could be confusion in real-life situations. TSA officers might not be able to recognize whether or not a particular CBD product is legal and adheres to the regulations of the 2018 Farm Bill. Generally, however, most people travel with CBD products and do not experience any issues.

Can I give CBD to My Dog or Pet?

Yes, you can. Dogs, cats, and other pets may suffer from anxiety, joint pain, or other ailments that humans take CBD to alleviate. While it might be difficult to determine a proper dosage for a pet, research indicates that CBD could help them with certain conditions. A study from Cornell, for example, shows that CBD can significantly improve pain management and quality of life for dogs suffering from osteoarthritis. Many pet owners give CBD to their pets to help calm them down during anxious times, or help them with pain and suffering from injury, illness or old age.

  • CBD is the main therapeutic chemical compound found in the cannabis plant.
  • Research indicates that CBD has a variety of health benefits and can be beneficial to those suffering from cancer, mental health issues, seizures, insomnia, pain, sleep and more.
  • CBD works by activating receptors in the central nervous and immune systems.
  • CBD is non-intoxicating and has no psychoactive effects.
  • CBD derived from hemp is legal on a federal level, but states may have their own laws regarding CBD.
  • CBD is available in a variety of forms, including oils, tinctures, edibles, vapes, topicals, beverages, and more.

Closing statement

CBD’s popularity will continue to grow as more people learn how it provides temporary and long-term relief for a variety of health issues and conditions. More studies need to be conducted to fully understand how CBD impacts the human body, but the research currently available is very promising.

Breaking the Cannabis Stigma with CBD [Ultimate Guide 2020]

The cannabis plant has been plagued by unjust and negative stigma for far too long, and CBD is starting to change that.

CBD is opening up the conversation about the cannabis plant – making it less taboo and more mainstream. CBD, or cannabidiol, is the non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in the hemp strain of the cannabis plant, that is helping people of all ages live a better quality of life.

It is the wellness compound making headlines everywhere due to its health benefits, and has been shown successful in reducing pain, anxiety, improving focus and mood, decreasing seizures and more. CBD has also being noticed as an effective treatment for Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease, along with other ailments.

While some may still be skeptical of the compound due to the misguided hemp ban back in 1937, science continues to prove there really is no need for skepticism. Science is only beginning to scratch the surface of CBD’s potential. The proof of CBD’s success can be seen in scientific research and consumer feedback.   In some cases, people have referred to CBD as being “life changing.”

Here are 5 key ways CBD is breaking the cannabis stigma:

5 Ways CBD is Halting Negative Stereotypes

1. CBD Does Not Get You High

It doesn’t matter how much CBD you take, or the form in which CBD is administered: CBD will never get you high.

THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, is the compound in the cannabis plant responsible for getting users high. CBD products must contain no more than 0.3 percent THC to be considered legal cannabidiol. However, these restrictions can differ by state.

2. Hemp and Marijuana Are Two Different Plants

This one is confusing for people. Hemp and marijuana are strains of the cannabis plant. They are two completely different plants that are derived from the same family plant.

Hemp, often referred to as “industrial hemp,” is the fiber and seed part of the Cannabis Sativa L. plant, as opposed to the flower part of the plant which is legally considered and classified as marijuana. The fiber and seeds from the hemp part of the plan are of incredible value, which is why hemp is also referred to as a “cash crop.”

3. CBD is Legal

While CBD can be derived from either hemp or marijuana, the products on the market right now must be hemp-derived in order to be in good legal and safe standing according to federal and state laws.

As long as CBD contains no more than 0.3 percent THC, CBD is considered to be legal. However, be sure to check the regulations and restrictions for CBD within your state.

4. CBD is Safe For Anyone & Everyone

One of the most common reasons people are so fascinated by CBD is because it has shown – on multiple accounts – to be an effective treatment for health conditions in adults and children.

Children are taking it for ADHD, teenagers are taking it for depression, adults are taking it for anxiety, and everyone is taking it for pain, all with the resounding answer of “Yes, CBD works for me.”

The FDA has already approved the first cannabis medication for children with rare forms of onset epilepsy, further proving how CBD can improve the daily lives of those who take it.

In fact, CBD is even safe for your pets! Products for dogs and cats are available on the market. CBD works in the body the same way for all mammals through the Endocannabinoid System.

5. CBD is a Health Fad Here To Stay

Much of CBD’s appeal comes from the fact that it is available in a variety of products, such as oils, tinctures, creams, salves, facial scrubs, capsules, vape pens, and more. This allows CBD to be taken in multiple ways, for easy and convenient consumption.

CBD is further propelling the conscious consumer movement, as people are always looking for more natural solutions and products. CBD has become a wellness wonder, and has been shown to be more effective in comparison to antidepressant medications like Prozac and Zoloft.

Why? Because CBD is natural. CBD continues reduce people’s stress levels, anxiety, physical pain, and inflammation while supporting good overall health. In a marketplace where consumers are more and more conscious of what they’re consuming, natural alternatives like CBD are exactly what people want.

Cannabis is a remarkable plant with life-changing capabilities. In the very near future, it’s likely consumers will be able to pick up a bottle of CBD oil at common drug stores like CVS and Walgreens. Some hemp oil products are already available at various specialty and health food stores around the U.S.

  • CBD is beginning to break the negative stigma around the cannabis plant.
  • CBD is non-psychoactive and will not produce the “high” that is associated with the consumption of marijuana.
  • CBD can be used to reduce pain, anxiety, inflammation, ADHD, seizures, and more in both adults and children.
  • CBD is safe for children and adults thanks to it’s non-psychoactive nature.

Athletes & CBD [Ultimate Guide 2020]

Cannabidiol (CBD), the main non-psychoactive chemical compound found in cannabis, has been gaining praise recently for its long list of medical benefits. The cannabinoid has been gaining praise recently for its long list of medical benefits. People suffering from physical pain, anxiety, depression, IBS, and other conditions are finding relief through the use of CBD. In addition to this, research suggests that CBD can offer some significant benefits for athletes.

The therapeutic cannabinoid derived from the cannabis plant (more formally regarded as cannabidiol), interacts with our body’s Endocannabinoid System, or ECS. The ECS is full of naturally-occurring cannabinoids that help keep us at peak health.

CBD products can help anyone improve their health and well being. Athletes can benefit from the supplement in a variety of ways. Their overactive lifestyles are next-level compared to the general public.  Professional athletes and athletic individuals can turn to CBD for a pre-workout boost and post-workout recovery. Although these top athletes may be in perfect shape, many sports and other athletic activites can wear heavily on the body’s muscle tissue, joints and organs. Recovery after exercise is equally as important as exercise itself.

4  Ways CBD Can Benefit Athletic Performance:

1. CBD as a Pre-Workout: An Instant Energy Boost

While many people take CBD to get a better night’s rest or calm their nerves, CBD can also be utilized as an incredible supplement for energy. CBD works in a similar manner to coffee or a pre-workout protein shake, and can allow athletes to work harder and longer. However, with CBD, athletes won’t get the crash, jitters, or caffeine headache associated with some supplements.

Taking CBD as a pre-work out supplement may increase performance.

2. CBD Tames Inflammation From Sore Muscles

When you’re tearing your muscle tissue down regularly, your body is going to yell at you. Overworking your body can result in inflamed and painful muscle strains. This is very common in professional athletes. This continued wear on muscles can make their bodies constantly inflamed. and this continued wear on muscles can make their bodies constantly inflamed.

CBD can help reduce inflammation and soreness in muscles. Many topicals and pain creams can be used to take the pain away from strained muscles. This can be especially useful for athletes that play a variety of different sports and outdoor activities.

Causes of muscle spasms in athletes are usually linked to muscle strains, dehydration, or damage to the affected area.  CBD can help prevent and relieve these spasms thanks to its anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic properties.

3. CBD Aids in Pain Management For Sports-Related Injuries

After an intense workout or training session, you will most likely feel tired, worn out, and sore. Often times athletes will try to find relief to these symptoms by using over the counter drugs such as Advil or Ibuprofen. Although consumption of these pain relievers is typically okay, many athletes rely on these drugs and take them on a consistent basis. This can be extremely dangerous, and can cause stomach bleeding in extreme cases.

For this reason, it’s suggested athletes stick to a more powerful, less toxic and naturally occurring substance, such as CBD to help cope and relieve pain. Athletes can use CBD topically or orally to reduce or relieve their pain depending on their preference.

CBD interacts with serotonin and vanilloid receptors in the brain to make this all possible. These receptors are known to influence mood and the perception of pain in the body.

4. CBD Helps with Post-Workout Recovery

Pain and post-workout recovery tend to go hand in hand in professional sports. If the pain isn’t addressed, it can lead to significant wear on muscles and lingering pain. In severe cases, this pain can prevent athletes from engaging in their favorite physical activities altogether.

In addition to CBD’s anti-inflammatory effects, CBD is known for reducing chronic and neuropathic pain.

In addition to all of the physical conditions, professional athletes may experience mental strain and anxiety due to pressure. This could stem from fans, fierce competition, or fear of getting injured. CBD can aid athletes in relieving pre-game pressure thanks to its wildly popular anti-anxiety properties.

  • CBD can be used as an effective pre-workout and post-workout supplement.
  • CBD is a natural pain-reliever that can help alleviate pain during and after exercise.
  • CBD is a powerful anti-inflammatory agent that offers protection for the body’s heart, lungs, and brain.
  • CBD can aid in the recovery process for professional athletes and athletic individuals.
  • CBD is natural and doesn’t have any psychoactive effects – meaning it cannot get users “high”

10 Ways CBD Can Benefit Healthy People [Ultimate Guide 2020]

If you perceive yourself as a healthy individual and wellness enthusiast, you may be asking yourself “Can CBD even help me?”

It’s a fair question, and one we can personally attest to. As a team dedicated to healthy eating, daily exercise, and regular meditation sessions, we view ourselves as healthy beings in many different ways.

So it makes sense we all love CBD, the fascinatingly therapeutic cannabinoid that consumers far and wide are taking to improve their overall health and well-being. CBD is being incorporated into daily routines to ease pain, anxiety, inflammation, addiction, depression, seizures, and much more.

Can CBD Help Me if I’m Perfectly Healthy?

The answer is yes. CBD can only help you, and cannot harm you. The compound works by interacting with the human Endocannabinoid System (ECS), the system in the body responsible for promoting and maintaining homeostasis.

The ECS regulates everything in our bodies from sleep, mood, memory, digestion, immune function, neural development, and metabolism. This is the reason CBD is able to help so many different symptoms that we experience daily.

Even if you are in the best shape of your life, have no physical ailments and live a generally low-stress life, you can still benefit from CBD.

CBD’s potency can depend on your body weight, among other different variables. These factors can influence your CBD intake and the appropriate dosage. If you take CBD and don’t feel a difference, it doesn’t mean that the CBD isn’t working. It could just mean that you need a higher dose, or that your body is in great shape; in this case, the CBD will work as a preventative measure rather than fixing an issue.

Read on to see how CBD can benefit the ultra health conscious.

10 Ways CBD Benefits Healthy People

The coolest thing about CBD is that it can help with just about everything. This includes the common aches and pains of everyday life. From acne and mood disorders, to upping your workout stamina, taking CBD for preventative measures is a sure fire way to increase your well-being.

1. Sleep:

People have been utilizing cannabis for years as a means to get a good night’s rest. People are replacing THC (the cannabinoid that makes you “high” when you consume cananbis) with CBD. Research and consumer feedback suggest that  CBD Tinctures  and  CBD vape pens  are just as effective for sleep as using marijuana. CBD also provides additional benefits while your slumber, like taming inflammation and correcting digestive functions.

2. Skincare:

Your skin is often viewed as a reflection of your diet, exercise, and even stress levels. Typically, those with healthy lifestyles will have good skin. Staying hydrated, eating organic, and occasional exercise usually translates to clear skin. However, just because you’re a health fanatic doesn’t mean you’re protected from breakouts, rashes, or wrinkles. CBD-infused skincare products work wonders for the skin, and can reduce the risk of rashes, wrinkles, and breakouts. They come in cleansers, scrubs, moisturizers, serums, lip balms, and more. CBD skin care products are said to be extremely effective in maintaining and creating the healthy and flawless skin that everyone wants. For times when those unexpected feelings of angst or worry come on, you can be prepared to handle the symptoms with CBD. A lot of people love CBD oil  for it’s convenience and quick digestion. Others prefer vapes, and have reported that it helps them focus on their breathing. Other individuals take CBD capsules, typically as an everyday wellness supplement, for a more gradual way of keeping feelings of anxiety at bay.

Epilepsy & CBD [Ultimate Guide 2020]

If you haven’t heard the most recent news on CBD, the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the first ever cannabis medication for epilepsy, named Epidiolex.

Now children, and other people suffering from epilepsy can legally use this CBD medication to help treat symptoms of epilepsy. This is an amazing breakthrough for CBD, and more medications can be seen coming in the near future. You can learn more about Epidiolex  here.

CBD, or  Cannabidiol (CBD), is the main non-psychoactive chemical compound found in cannabis. The cannabinoid has been gaining praise recently for its long list of medical benefits. People suffering from physical pain, anxiety, depression, IBS, and other conditions are finding relief through the use of CBD. In addition to these benefits, CBD is non-psychoactive, meaning that it does not produce the “high” that is associated with the consumption of cannabis.

We will first explain what epilepsy is and then discuss how CBD can be beneficial to those suffering from epileptic symptoms.

What is Epilepsy?

Epilepsy is a neurological condition that results in recurring seizures. Approximately 50 million people in the world live with epilepsy. This debilitating condition makes daily tasks like driving, cooking, taking care of children, or holding a job next to impossible in severe cases.

Epileptic seizures are caused by irregular electrical discharges (misfirings) among brain cells, resulting in moderate to violent convulsions of the body, loss of consciousness and occasionally, altered senses (inability to hear or see straight).

Some people are born with epilepsy. Others have developed epilepsy from a bad head injury, a hormonal imbalance in the body, or serious virus. In general, the cause of epilepsy is simply unknown, making it even more frustrating for those suffering from the difficult disease.

How Does CBD Help Epileptic Seizures?

Medical cannabis contains anticonvulsant properties. The cannabis plant contains over 100 chemical compounds – called cannabinoids – with the most recognized cannabinoids being THC (the cannabinoid responsible for getting people high). CBD, however, is where most of the anticonvulsant properties come from.

Since CBD is an anticonvulsant, it affects the neurotransmitters responsible for sending messages or attaching themselves to neurons in the body. As a result, the activity of the cell is altered from switching how the ions flow into and out of the neurons.

A study conducted In 2003 from the Virginia Commonwealth University reported that cannabinoids from the cannabis plant indeed provide health benefits that are not found in conventional pharmaceutical treatments. The lead researcher for the trial had been studying the therapeutic effects of cannabis on epilepsy and other illnesses for over a decade, proving cannabinoids, CBD included, can decrease seizures through the activation of the brain’s CB1 receptors (receptors found in the memory-related areas of the brain and nervous system), which send messages to the brain once CBD is taken.

There have been many success stories from people suffering from epilepsy. Many consumers claim that their loved ones have had a significant reduction in epileptic episodes after taking CBD. It is known to reduce the frequency of seizures, and in some cases has ridden them completely. CBD has truly made a profound impact on their lives, and will continue to positively effect those that need it.

  • CBD may provide relief from epileptic seizures
  • Epilepsy can make it difficult for those affected to live their normal, daily lives.
  • The FDA approved the first legal CBD medication used to treat seizures: Epidiolex
  • It is tough to determine the true causes of epilepsy

CBD vs. CBDa [Ultimate Guide 2020]

Cannabidiol (CBD), the popular non-psychoactive component of the cannabis plant, has been gaining a lot of attention in recent years due to its tremendous therapeutic properties. Studies have proven that this chemical compound can have a significant positive impact on many functions of the human body, including metabolism, mood, appetite, sleep, pain tolerance, and more. It is the second-most prominent cannabinoid found in the cannabis plant, after its contrasting psychoactive component, THC. Before processing, CBD is referred to as CBDa, and must undergo the process of decarboxylation before officially becoming refined and processed CBD.

With CBD becoming the most promising cannabinoid for medical research, CBDa has been overlooked in the past. Recently, a new trend of “juicing” raw cannabis has brought CBDa back into the spotlight. Although CBD is derived from CBDa, there is a common misconception that they are the same chemical compound. In actuality, they differ from each other in a number of ways including chemical composition, working mechanism and health benefits.

If they are in fact two different chemical compounds, how does CBDa become CBD?

First, let us explain exactly what CBDa is, then what CBD is, as their own separate elements.

Found in fresh cannabis plants, CBDa is the acidic forerunner to CBD. It has healing properties of its own, and is often processed to maximize these benefits. CBDa will naturally become CBD as it undergoes degradation over time, but can be transformed more quickly through decarboxylation. The  process of decarboxylation  is the act of heating cannabis materials through cooking, vaporizing or smoking. Depending on the amount of time the heat is applied, decarboxylation may turn CBDa into CBD. Because of this, the resultant chemical compound may still contain a trace amount of CBDa.

Differences Between CBDa and CBD:

Chemical Composition

The chemical formulas for CBD and CBDa are C₂₁H₃₀O₂ and C₂₂H₃₀O₄ respectively. The cannabinoid has a more simple chemical composition because of the absence of a carboxylic acid group that is removed during the decarboxylation process. The removal of the carboxyl group turns the inactive components in CBDa into active components, unlocking additional therapeutic properties.

Working Mechanisms

  • Both CBD and CBDa have a positive impact on the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS), which serves to regulate balance in immune response, cellular communication, metabolism, mood, and other bodily functions. While they do not interact directly with the main receptors of the ECS, they can both activate and inhibit other receptors to keep the body healthy.
  • In terms of “working mechanisms,” the main differences between CBD and CBDa lies in the types of receptors they influence:
    • CBD is known to react with adenosine, serotonin and vanilloid receptors to mediate pain, inflammation, anxiety, depression and other conditions.
    • CBD also inhibits the CPR55 receptor to improve bone density, blood pressure, and cancer-fighting abilities.
    • CBDa works by blocking the activities of receptors responsible for causing inflammation, such as COX-1 and COX-2. By doing so, CBDa can reduce seizures, inflammation, and symptoms of diseases.

Researchers have found that CBD and CBDa provide the best results when they work together. This is especially true if the condition results from the improper regulation of multiple systems in the body. In addition to this, recent studies showed that CBDa can enhance the potency of CBD, allowing users to take smaller amounts while retaining the same level of effectiveness.

Health Benefits of CBD and CBDa

Both CBD and CBDa are suitable for healthcare use because they are non-psychoactive, meaning they do not make their users feel “high.” While they have several similar health benefits, these compounds are not entirely the same in terms of therapeutic effects. The process of decarboxylation activates certain dormant medicinal properties of CBDa, but it also results in the loss of beneficial cannabis oils called terpenes. Therefore, CBD does provide a wider range of health benefits but it does not offer as many terpene-related benefits as CBDa.

To date, CBD has been more extensively studied than CBDa. Researchers have found that CBD can help improve the general well-being of an individual, and is said to alleviate many health problems, including:

  • Inflammation
  • Pain
  • Loss of appetite
  • Nausea and Vomiting
  • Sleeping Difficulty
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Epilepsy
  • Diabetes
  • Heart Disease
  • Stroke
  • Cancer
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Alzheimer’s Disease
  • Parkinson’s Disease
  • Acne
  • Addiction

CBDa has gotten significantly less attention from research in comparison to CBD. Because of this, CBDa’s true potential is relatively unknown. However, experts have discovered that it can help treat a number of health conditions so far (Note: some are similar to those of CBD) including:

  • Bacterial Infection
  • Pain
  • Inflammation
  • Nausea and Vomiting
  • Seizure
  • Arthritis
  • Cancer
  • Anxiety
  • Psychotic Disorders

Despite their differences, both CBD and CBDa can be extremely beneficial to anyone’s health. Whether you wish to use these powerful compounds to treat a specific condition or to improve general health, it is important that you select products that are effective and safe.

  • CBD is a substance with a curative effect that can be used for a variety of unwanted symptoms.
  • CBDa is a strong variant of CBD containing heightened value which results in a strengthened effect.
  • CBD and CBDa are beneficial compounds by themselves and when working together.
  • CBD and CBDa contain no psychoactive substances, and therefore have no mind-altering effects.
